“Storytime Bird Nest” — Originally created for a library’s “Spring Into Reading”-themed display, this build shows a mother bird returning to the nest where her baby bird is waiting for a bedtime story. The outspread wings of the mother bird are actually an open book.

“Leap for Lemmings” — This build is a little diorama illustrating the fascinating way arctic foxes hunt for lemmings (small ground rodents) hidden in little tunnels in the snow. Foxes use their incredible sense of hearing to listen for the little footsteps of a lemming as it moves around below the surface. When they have homed in on the spot, they leap up and dive nose-first into the snow drift. If their guess was right and they were both stealthy and quick enough, they come back to the surface with a lemming in their mouth.
